It’s clear that in the New Testament, the prophetic ministry is called to be part of a team. The Apostle Paul’s letters gave us a more in-depth look of the prophetic ministry. In his epistles, Paul used the word “prophet” in the singular form only twice. On both accounts, he spoke in the context of having personal responsibility for the prophetic gift. However, he used the word “prophets” in plural, several times. It seems that Paul wanted to put emphasis on the prophetic being who is released through a team, and not just as a single person’s ministry (e.g. 1 Cor. 14:24; 1 Cor. 14:29).
In Joel 2:28, as quoted in Acts 2:17, the prophet talked about the pouring out of the Holy Spirit in these days. If God is only interested in a few, select individuals, then He would not pour out His Spirit in such a way that everyone could prophesy. The prophetic ministry is for the young and the old; the male and the female. It’s a community of prophets.
Experience the Power of Prophecy as a gift to open your mind to receive the Mind of Christ.
Do you belong to a prophetic community? If yes, why did you choose this particular community? If not, why are you not part of a prophetic community?
